Student Support 2016


1.  Dr B S Bhaduria delivered a guest lecture on "Mathematical Modeling" to I and II MSc Mathematics    students on 11.6.2016.

2.  Ms Phinu Mary Joseph conducted Personality development programme for I MSc Mathematics students on 18.6.2016.

3.  Dr T Venkatesh delivered a guest lecture on "Financial Mathematics" to I and II MSc Mathematics students on 1.7.2016.

4.   Dr N Chandrasekaran gave an extension lecture on “Mathematics since Hilbert’s 23 problems” to I and II MSc Mathematics students on 14.7.2016.

5.  Carrier Orientation lecture for final year CMS&EMS students on “The opportunities and skills required for statisticians in corporate world” on 23 July 2016 by Srinivas Prasad B.L, Asst. General Manager, Team Lease Staffing Solutions, Bangalore.

6.  A group of 10 Students and one faculty member attended a workshop organized by the NSSO office, Koramangala, Bangalore on the occasion of National Statistics Day on 29 July, 2016.

7.  Dr T V Joseph gave a talk on “A glimpse of Number Theory” for I CME students on 2nd August 2016 at C 105, Central Block, CHRIST (Deemed to be University).

8. CONVERGENCE 2016 – an intercollegiate fest was organized for BSC Mathematics students on 22/8/2016. 10 city colleges participated. Following events were organized: Lecture Contest, Quiz, Puzzles & Crossword, Minute to win it, Dumb Charades, Mathematical Modeling, Jam, Air Crash and Finding X.

9. Social responsibility week was conducted in association with CSA during Monday (29/8/2016) - Friday(2/9/2016) for  M Sc and B Sc Mathematics students. Department of Mathematics (M Sc Mathematics students) bagged the 2nd prize in inter-department competition.

10.  Career oriented guest lecture on “Overseas opportunities in Statistics and allied fields” by Mr N Santosh, Merit Higher Education, on 2 Sep, 2016

11. Science Academies lecture workshop on “An introduction to the solution of Ordinary Differential Equations” was organized during 1 September and 3 September 2016. Students from 10 city colleges participated. The following eminent personalities in the field of Mathematics engaged different sessions:

Dr A N Nandakumaran (IISc Bengaluru),

Dr P S Datti, Visiting Scientist, ISI, Bengaluru,

Dr Venky Krishnan (TIFR – CAM, Bengaluru),

Dr A S Vasudevamurthy, TIFR -– CAM, Bengaluru).

12.I MSc Mathematics students participated in Carnival - 2016 organized by Centre for Social Action (CSA) by displaying exhibits on different topics in Mathematics on 10.9.2016.

13.  Special Career oriented lecture for Statistics students on “The Role of Statisticians in Industry: Use of R and SAS” on 12 Nov, 2016 by Mr Radaiah K, Lead Analyst, Analytics Quotient, Bangalore.

14. AAROHAN 2016 - an intercollegiate PG Mathematics fest was organized on 16th November 2016.

15. Campus connect and intra collegiate PG fest was organized on 22nd November 2016 at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Kengeri Campus.

16. Prof. A M Mathai, Professor Emeritus McGill University, Canada, delivered a lecture on “Milne Convolution and Milne Transformation” for I and II MSc Maths students on 7th December 2016.


17. Prof. A M Mathai, Professor Emeritus McGill University, Canada, delivered a lecture on “Basic Concepts in Mathematics”  for  Final Year BSc(PCM,PME,CMS,CME,EMS) Mathematics students on 8th December 2016.


18. Prof Raef Lawson, Vice President, Research and Policy and Professor-in-residence, IMA(School of Business and Management and Accountants ), New York , USA delivered a talk on “Careers in Economics/Mathematics” for  IV and VI semester EMS students on 8th February 2017.


19. Dr H S K Nathan delivered a talk on “Powerful applications of simple mathematics in development research: How I stumbled upon him” for  I and II MSc Mathematics on 15th February 2017.
